My Healing Journey
My healing journey began in my early 30’s, after a particularly rough patch in my life, and questions began arising in me about how I relate to the world. I was working in an unfulfilling job for many years prior. I had a couple of bad break-ups around that time, and it felt like I was a hamster running on a wheel. What am I doing here? What’s my purpose in life? It felt like there was more to life than I really knew, and I had no one to turn to for answers. I was tired of the pain and confusion and wanted answers.
It was around this time that I had begun to pay attention to my own awarenesses that I hadn’t felt since I was a child. As a young boy, I remember being aware of something greater than myself, which also felt connected to me. I could also see/sense/hear things that others could not. As I grew older into my teens and beyond, I turned off that connection because of the demands of growing up in a busy world. My family life was never that great, and there was no one for me to go to with questions.
It wasn’t until many years later, I realized the connection that I had always felt as a boy was my connection to God. Around the early 2000’s as my re-awakening was happening, I began studying and integrating Buddhism into my life. Buddhism’s teachings of compassion, non-attachment, and our relationship to the world helped me with reconnecting to myself and God. I find value in, and respect and honor all religions because there is always something there, no matter what your religious belief strutcture is, that speaks to you. Although there are many differences within the religions of the world, you can always find an underlying thread of commonality between them.
As wonderful as religion can be, there is also room for Spirituality, which is at my core. Spirituality, to me, is another connection to God in a different way. Spirituality is working with your Spirit Guides, your Guardian Angels, and your inner senses to the relatedness of all all things around you. When we work with our Spirit Guides and Guardian Angels, we are opening our hearts in another way to our own self and to each other. And having an open heart is key. For when we have an open heart, we allow the space for love to enter. And once we do that, everything around you begins to change.
For love is welcoming each day for the gift that it is. It is accepting each day as the challenge of making a difference in the world. Because no matter what work you do, or what spiritual or religious path you believe in/follow, you are helping the improvement of humanity. By living and acting out of love each day, you are setting an example to others to show them the love they are capable of as well.
Life is a sacred opportunity for love, compassion, forgiveness, and corned beef sandwiches.
